Price labeling and price checking are key in many stores, and yet Deutsche Telekom, as part of their eco initiative Green Magenta, has improved its operations and customer satisfaction by getting rid of paper labels altogether. How?

Price labeling and price checking are key in many stores, and yet Deutsche Telekom, as part of their eco initiative Green Magenta, has improved its operations and customer satisfaction by eliminating paper labels altogether. How? They have installed more than one thousand of Newland's NQuire 750 micro kiosks with integrated barcode scanners to ensure up-to-date and accurate price checking. As a result, they won the Connect Mobile ShopTest Award, which was voted by customers.

In the flagship Telekom stores located in Germany, the primary focus is on assisting customers in finding the right mobile or internet plan and device that suits their needs. The stores also offer a variety of accessories that can enhance the customers' mobile phone and online experience.

Considerations for going paperless

Labeling every item individually was time-consuming for store employees, especially when running promotions. Each item had to be relabeled with the discounted price and then labeled again once the promotion ended.

Another reason to adopt paperless practices is due to their Green Magenta initiative. As a part of its commitment to the environment, Telekom has decided to reduce paper usage by implementing the NQuire 750 Micro Kiosk with integrated barcode scanners from Newland. This is a significant step towards achieving their goal of creating a zero-waste shop.

Michael Meckel, in charge of Location Management and Design at Telekom states: "We have been using the NQuire750 for automated price information for our products and for displaying consumer information since the beginning of 2023 and we are still more than satisfied with this decision. Thanks to the modern scanners from Newland, we have been able to achieve a new level of efficiency in our stores."
